Privacy Policy and Use of Health Information

Rain City Dentistry is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your health information, in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and Washington State law. As part of your care, we may use or disclose your Protected Health Information (PHI) for treatment, payment, and healthcare operations. This includes sharing information with other providers, specialists, labs, pharmacies, or your insurance company as needed to coordinate your care, obtain reimbursement, or support internal functions such as staff training, quality improvement, and compliance audits.

There are specific circumstances in which your health information may be disclosed without your written authorization. These include public health reporting, health oversight investigations, court orders or subpoenas, law enforcement requests, and situations where disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious threat to health or safety. Any other use or disclosure of your information not described here will require your explicit written authorization, which you may revoke at any time.

You have the right to access and request a copy of your dental records, request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information, and request restrictions on how your information is used or shared. While we may not be able to accommodate every request, we will make reasonable efforts to do so. You may also request that we communicate with you through alternate channels (such as a different phone number or mailing address), and you are entitled to receive an accounting of certain disclosures of your information. A paper or electronic copy of this privacy policy is available upon request.

We use secure systems and train our staff to protect your information and maintain confidentiality. We may contact you via phone, text, email, or mail for appointment reminders or administrative matters unless you request a different method of communication. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to file a complaint with our office or with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. You will not be penalized in any way for filing a complaint.
